Men of Derwent warm-up with win

Knaresborough v Men of Derwent - Saturday 9th April 2016 - Pre-season Friendly

Knaresborough 78 all out (Josh Jackson 5-29)

Men of Derwent 83-1 (Andrew Bilton 51 retired) won by 9 wickets

New captain Andrew Biton (pictured above) led the way with 51 (retired) as the Woodhouse Grange XI, playing under their friendly name, dusted off the cobwebs in fine style. Earlier, left-arm spinner Josh Jackson showed that April need not be made for seam bowlers alone, as he started the season superbly by taking 5-29. Seamers Steve Burdett (2-11) and David Suddaby (2-12) provided an excellent support act.

We must express our thanks to Knaresborough, not only for hosting the match, but for their kind gesture to continue practising after the conclusion of the match. This allowed the likes of Chris Bilton, Tom Young, Steve Burdett and Chris Suddaby opportunity for some time in the middle, and for Andrew Horner to get into rhythm ahead of next week's inaugural Yorkshire Premier League North fixture against Harrogate.
