The Woodhouse Grange Under 13s team gives junior players a first taste of competitive 11-a-side club cricket.
20 overs-a-side matches are held mainly on Sunday Mornings, usually from late April to mid July.
A program of matches are played in the Hirepoint Plant & Tool Hire League, which is run by the York and District Junior Cricket Association; and there is also a knockout cup competition to play for.
Pre-season net sessions with ECB qualified coaches are held at a local school from early February until mid April.
Practice then moves outdoors at Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club, held on Friday nights from 6:30pm to 8:00pm until the end of the junior season.
Some Under 13s have quickly broken into the senior ranks in recent seasons, and we very much hope that this trend continues.
The Under 13s are managed by club stalwart Steve Ainley, an ECB qualified coach who also captains our 4th XI on Saturdays. Steve plays a key role in guiding young cricketers and introducing them into the senior game.
