under 9s / under 11s
The under 9s / under 11s team is all about getting youngsters into playing competitive cricket. In 2016 they are in a strong looking First Division, so this will provide the team with a great opportunity to develop.
Practice sessions under the tuition of our ECB qualified coaches provide an ideal setting for junior players to develop their skills. These are held at our club on Friday nights from early May until mid July. Winter nets are also held indoors at local facilities during February to April every year.
The U9s/U11s team is managed by club stalwart Russell Bilton (pictured right), an ECB qualified coach and distinguished player. Russell was a key component in the Woodhouse Grange 1st XI for many years, bowling canny slow-left-arm and batting throughout the order, and has recently been voted into the York & District Senior League Hall of Fame.
An ideal man to set an example and teach youngsters to play cricket in the right spirit, 'Russ' now plays an important role in our 3rd XI, and in addition to all of his efforts for Woodhouse Grange, manages the Taverners under 11 team.
