Junior Cricket:

Under 9s / Under 11s

The Woodhouse Grange Under 9s/Under 11s team gives junior cricketers a first taste of competitive matches against rival clubs.

Midweek evening matches are held throughout the junior season, with 'pairs' cricket allowing batsmen and bowlers good opportunities to make their mark.

Practice sessions under the tuition of our ECB qualified coaches provide an ideal setting for junior players to develop their skills. These are held at our club on Friday nights from early May until mid July.

Winter nets are also held indoors at local facilities during February to April every year.

The U9s/U11s team is managed by club stalwart Russell Bilton. Himself an ECB qualified coach, Russell was a key component in the Woodhouse Grange 1st XI for many years, bowling 'ball on a string' slow left arm and batting throughout the order. He was honoured for his outstanding contribution to local cricket by being inducted into the York & District Senior Cricket League's Hall of Fame in 2016.

An ideal man to set an example and teach youngsters to play cricket in the right spirit, 'Russ' now plays an important role in our 3rd XI; and in addition to all of his efforts for Woodhouse Grange, has managed the Taverners Under 11 team.
