Woodhouse Grange 2nd XI
The Woodhouse Grange 2nd XI has become a much stronger side in recent seasons, and one of the key reasons for the focus on developing the 2nd XI was to close the gap in standard between our 1st XI and the 2nd XI. Our 2nd XI plays at a good competitive level of club cricket, being tested against a number of first teams as well as other second elevens.
2016 was a successful season for the second team. They won the Readman T20 competition, reached finals day in the Frank Piercy T20, and finished a creditable third in Galtres Division 2 of the York & District Senior League.
Our second XI will play in Ebor Division 2 in 2017, shifting as part of the York & Distrct Senior League's annual regionalisation review. Having established themselves at this level following successive promotions several years ago, there is real hope within the club that the second team could push for promotion this time around.
With the 1st XI having now playing in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League North, the club is very keen that the 2nd XI plays at as a high a standard as possible. Naturally we face stiff competition from many strong clubs with similar hopes and plans.
There are a number of very talented young players in the second team, along with some very able and experienced cricketers. Rob Daniel, who leads the side for a third season in 2017, will hope that this proves to be a winning combination.
